Invisalign
A Clear Alternative

If you’re looking for a cosmetic orthodontic solution, then Invisalign® might be the answer for you.

It is the ‘invisible’ way to straighten teeth using a series of clear, lightweight aligners. Invisalign® has a number of key advantages over traditional braces: it’s inconspicuous with no wires or brackets being involved, only thin, virtually invisible plastic aligners; it’s removable, meaning you can take it out to eat, drink, and clean your teeth; and it’s more comfortable, with no abrasion to the lips and cheeks and soreness like with dental braces.

Invisalign® works by using advanced 3D imaging equipment and software to develop custom made aligners. These are then worn in sequence, usually for 2 weeks each, to gradually move the teeth into their new positions.

There are now different types of Invisalign® options depending on you age and severity of the case. Invisalign Full is used for most cases, Invisalign Teen for teenagers, Invisalign Lite for simple cases, and Invisalign i7 for very minor movements.

Some benefits of Invisalign®:
  • Virtually invisible
  • Smooth comfortable plastic aligners
  • You can remove the aligners for special occasions
  • You can eat whatever you want
  • Fewer and shorter visits are required at the orthodontist
  • You can view a computer simulation of your planned result
Removable-Appliances
The Fun Start for Kids

Upper removable appliances are plates that are used in young children.

Plates perform very simple tooth movements such as tipping and tilting of the teeth.

The success of upper removable appliances is highly dependent on the patient. By closely following instructions for wear, the results can be quite amazing.

They are custom made for each type of bite. Patients can choose between 15 different colours and even have sparkles put into their plate!

Some benefits of URAs:
  • Removable and simple
  • Ideal for young children
  • Often used to correct single tooth cross-bites
Expanders
For a Broader Smile!

In cases where the upper jaw is too small or narrow an expander may be the
best solution.

These devices are glued onto the teeth and slowly expand the jaw to its correct size. The technical name for them is rapid maxillary expander or RME.

RMEs are fitted to the upper molars. There is a tiny screw in the middle which the parents then turn once a day to gently expand the smile. RMEs are usually used to correct a cross-bite and to create space to fit in all the teeth prior to or with braces. When used in young children they can be quite effective as the bones are still growing and easily expanded.

After achieving the desired expansion, the expander is usually left in place for 6 months to allow things to stabilize.

  • Expands the top jaw in children
  • Alleviates cross-bites
  • Inconspicuous as they are placed on the roof of the mouth
  • Reduces the need for tooth extractions
  • Simple to use and very effective
  • Widens the smile
  • RMEs are very effective in broadening the smile and may be the right treatment for you

Functional-Appliances
Maximising Growth Potential

Sometimes the jaws may not align properly, with the lower jaw being deficient. In this case a functional appliance may be ideal.

Functional appliances posture the lower jaw forward and accelerate its growth to a more normal size. They also retract protruding upper teeth to a proper angulation.

Functional appliances are thus perfect for young growing children about 10-12 years of age with a large overjet or horizontal overlap of the teeth.

Mouthguards
For Piece of Mind

Wearing a custom fitted mouthguard is the easiest way to protect your smile against injury during contact sports.
